Celebration of Heroism and Writing Excellence

May 19 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

$22

Our final meeting before our summer break is upon us and we will end the year with a bang! At our May 19, 2018, we have an exciting and packed program with several speakers, two award ceremonies, and a presentation of our newly formed Color Guard.

Most importantly, we will have the distinct honor of recognizing female Pinellas County Deputy Amanda Grissinger for her heroism and outstanding service in the line of duty. Currently assigned to the Central Command, Deputy Grissinger will be accompanied by her supervisors, Sergeant Greg Horton and Lieutenant Dodson. Please see the attached letter from the Sheriff’s Department describing in detail the heroic efforts of Deputy Grissinger.

Additionally, we have the pleasure of awarding the 1st place winner of the St. Petersburg Chapter Knight Essay Contest with a cash prize. The Knight Essay contest is a national contest sponsored by the SAR, with competitions at the chapter, state, and national level. Originally created by George and Stella Knight, the Knight Essay Contest was designed to encourage students by instilling a love for writing and the American Revolution and is an important element of our organization’s patriotic efforts.

In conjunction with our duel award ceremony, we will have a presentation by our chapter’s newly formed Color Guard, headed by Compatriot David Chestnut. Finally, our chapter will have its yearly election of chapter officers for the coming year.

We look forward to closing out this year of the St. Petersburg SAR with a great celebration of heroism, writing excellence, and growth. We will see you on May 19th!
