When people hear the words, Sons of the American Revolution, it is our deepest desire to invoke a feeling of remembrance and reverence to those men and women who fought the most powerful empire of their time that we would live free! Regardless your social status, occupation, talents, or age, help us perpetuate the legacy of this generation and save our American freedom, get involved.
The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) was established as a non-profit, non-secret, non-partisan society for the purpose of being a beacon of light in a nation that was quickly forgetting its heritage and the sacrifices made that we might be the beneficiaries of a life-long freedom from tyranny.
Benjamin Franklin prophesied the following concerning those who would cherish temporary Safety over essential Liberty:
Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
Franklin’s call to never let go of our Liberty is precisely why the SAR was established, to reignite a love of true patriotism and proclaim the battle cry of American freedom. To this end, our founders set forth 20 objectives upon which our society is to base its direction.
Upon its founding, 10 objectives were declared to be the SAR’s permanent mantra. “The objects of this Society are declared to be patriotic, historical, and educational, and shall include those intended or designed to:
Given our final objective it is advantageous to consider George Washington’s injunctions or “solemn contemplations” from his farewell address as they establish the undercurrent, the worldview, the moral and political compass that SAR was established to follow:
Washington’s farewell address can be read in its entirety here.
It is with these 20 objectives, in conjunction with the Constitution, that we as a Society were established to follow.
Help ensure the freedom purchased by the blood of revolutionary war soldiers endures for generations to come. Become involved in the cause of liberty and help us preserve American freedom.
Are you, fellow patriot, ready to join the cause for American freedom?
With these objectives in mind, the possibilities for accomplishing our goals are only limited by the time, resources, and imagination of those who are willing to join us, the SAR, on our quest to foster true patriotism and maintain the institutions of American freedom. To meet the leadership of our chapter please read, Our Chapter. But most importantly, while we are lineage society with certain requirements for membership, we encourage all Americans who value their freedom and liberty to help us perpetuate the legacy of the Revolution and promote freedom on a national scale by getting involved in the Sons of Liberty.
